The 1st annual Battle on the Bayou Fishing Tournament hosted by Gator Boatwx, LLC was held in Mermentau, LA on June 22,2024. Owner Justin Simon wanted to bring an opportunity to the local community by organizing a bass fishing tournament on the Mermentau River. Their goal was to raise $2,000 in prize money aiming for 20 anglers. The tournament far surpassed their goal bringing in $5960 in cash prizes with 63 anglers. Funds were raised through entry fees and local sponsors. Door prizes ranging from floatation devices, boat seats, reels, gift baskets and more were given away to participants. Jambalaya, soft drinks and water was provided to both anglers and spectators.
